Dress panic
This weekend I’m a Maid of Honor. It’s very exciting, and I love the bride very much. She gave me total control on dresses. Something in a jewel-tone: blue, green, purple.
So I started looking for off the rack dresses in December. I ordered a green, strapless one from Nordstrom’s on Christmas Eve. When it came in, I deemed it too casual. I ordered a long, rouched navy blue gown, I swam in it.
I wasn’t panicking; I still had many, many months.
Then it was April. No dress. Panic. I ordered dresses from J.Crew and Anne Taylor. Went to every dress shop in a 60 mile radius. The problem? Prom season. All dresses were for tall 17-year olds, or mothers of the bride.
I finally settled on a blue dress from Anne Taylor. It was snug, but needed some altering in the chest. When I went to pick it up yesterday from the tailor, the bust was so tight my under arms were bruising. Major panic.
Ran to Macys. Tried on every dress they had in my size. And after 9 dresses, I found it. It’s exactly what I was looking for months ago. Pretty and dark blue (but not navy), snug but flows. Found shoes that match the brides (instead of some gaudy sparkly ones) and pearl earrings.
In 2 hours, I found the perfect outfit. The wedding gods were smiling down.
